About Ramadan in Dubai

Posted 1 year ago by rohn in response to avatar donny's question: What can you tell about Ramadan? It is the local holiday? Does it affect tourists in any way? (give a different answer) .

Ramadan is a month of fast during the day before Eid al-Fitr celebration (last year Ramadan started on September 24th and ended on October 24th). The breaking of the fast – the dinner meal called Iftar- is done at the mosque or with friends and family. The government offices have a 6 hours program, bars and pubs are closed until 7 pm each night, live music is prohibited and dance clubs are closed. Some restaurants do not serve alcohol and tourists are asked not to eat, drink and smoke in public.
