Trip to Sharjah, the cultural capital near Dubai

Take a trip to Sharjah, 10 km away from Dubai, the cultural capital of UAE and of the Arab world (named by Unesco). You will find beautiful museums and galleries as well as great souq shopping at the Souq Al-Arsah on south of Burj Ave. Visit Al-Fisn Fort- former residence of the ruling family of Sharjah- then the Literature Square and the House of Poetry coming from Burj Ave. Worth visiting is Sharjah Islamic Museum for a peek at its collection of coins, hand written Qurans. You can get to Sharjah by minibuses from the Deira taxi and minibus stand on Omar ibn al-Khattab Rd. Fares are about 5Dh. Back to Dubai it’s only by taxi – from the stand at the north end of Rolla Sq which cost around Dh 30.
